25/09: MediaCAT Version 3.1
Category: General
September 2009. Navaho Technologies, one of the UK’s leading Digital Signage providers announces the launch of the latest version of its flexible media presentation system, MediaCAT v3.1. Building on the usability of the digital signage solution, MediaCAT v3.1 incorporates sleek in-context publishing tools in a new Document Editor that simplifies the design and layout of text areas, allowing the user to quickly create tables, copy and paste from other documents. This is offered together with a number of other enhancements, all of which are designed to help customers seamlessly merge digital content to create stimulating visual displays. The new version is introduced alongside two new hardware options, the MediaCAT 400 and the MediaCAT 100, available from 30th September 2009.
MediaCAT version 3.1 develops Navaho Technologies commitment to the development of powerful electronic communication tools by encapsulating software features that enhance the usability of MediaCAT on more robust, accessible and ‘greener’ hardware. To achieve this MediaCat v3.1 introduces two new hardware solutions; MediaCAT 400 and MediaCAT 100
The MediaCAT 100 is ideal for single point of display units or for a multiple network with simple screen dressing and messaging. This economical and compact unit, uses less power than an energy saving light bulb and is available with a low-cost price tag that makes it the perfect affordable solution for all single screen devices.
The MediaCAT 400 offers a more powerful stable hardware chassis better suited to more sophisticated signage. Greater power in the Intel atom based box proficiently runs electronic noticeboards with multiple media areas on screen for multi-media, split screen messaging and advertising. The new platform also enables content to be published in a variety of views including portrait and landscape.
Both hardware options come with the v3.1 software enhancements. The new MediaCAT v3.1 Document Editor (and online html editor) enable users to directly edit textual content in the context of the page view i.e how it appears on the screen. This content can then be published alongside images and video to scroll live across almost any type of display device, including plasma screens, LCD displays and projectors.
“There is a distinct upwards surge in our marketplace as people are diversifying their use of digital signage to do a variety of jobs beyond serving information or advertising. New uses we have seen more of include staff training, customer service, health and safety communications or Wayfinding. MediaCAT v3.1 builds on our ethos of usability by putting greater flexibility, in terms of hardware and software functionality, in the hands of the people who need it i.e; the morning receptionist changing the conference room direction screens or the health and safety officer in location at the construction site. Not only have we made it easier for digital content to be entered, edited and published, but with the introduction of our two new hardware choices we are now even better placed to help customers satisfy the individual requirements of their digital signage solution.”
